Tips to Granö: 4 great ideas for a summer visit

In this post we’d like to offer you 4 great tips to Granö for the summer season of 2023.

Granö Beckasin is an unusual hotel. You see it right away as you arrive as you catch sight of our tree houses. We call them Bird’s Nests, and you can stay in them. You can also stay in a regular hotel room or a hotel cabin.

However, this is not the only thing that makes us a unique place to stay in Sweden. Our purpose is, and was from the beginning, to actively work for countryside development in our area. And our area is Granö village, right between Umeå and Lycksele, between the Baltic sea and the mountains of Lapland, in northern Sweden.

Around where we are, there is a great amount of local entrepreneurs and initiatives that welcome you as a guest in the summer. Here we will share 4 great tips to Granö that you might enjoy as you stay with us this summer. But trust us, there are many more.

4 great ones
  • Granöbygdens Golfbana. This golf course offers 9 holes with 5 sloping tees (58, 56, 52, 50, 49). It was built to be a quick round with lots of variations as well as physically easy to play. The course sits on a forest meadow and the view over the Ume River is amazing right before tee 8. In addition to the course, there is also a driving range here.
  • Sjungaregården kulturcentrum. This is, since 2014, a cultural center in Granö village. On this classic old farm, there is a baking cottage from the 18th century that is now an exhibit with local handicrafts and art. In the large barn is an art gallery as well as a small theatre stage. A classic tipi style tent is added for larger arrangements such as story telling nights, musical events and dance performances.
  • Husky House. At Spruce Island Husky, a new adventure will be added in the summer of 2023. The new initiative Husky House is a tour taking the visitor through the history of this sled dog breed. How are they trained, how do they work? In addition, you will get to see the dogs of course, and best of all, cuddle the puppies.
  • Granö gårdsbageri. This bakery is partly unmanned, but is open quite a lot in the summer. Read more here about the baker Martin Jonsson and his philosophy behind a café which is partly based on self service (in Swedish).
