Into the wild – an adventurous husky ride

Dog sledding Into the Wild

Into the wild

This husky tour is perfect for anyone who wants to drive their own dog sled in more hilly terrain, under the supervision of a guide. It’s helpful if you have basic fitness so you can assist the dogs in the uphill sections. You don’t need any prior knowledge of dog sledding to complete the tour.

Into the Wild is a 3-hour tour that takes you out into the beautiful nature of Västerbotten. The dog sled flies through snow-covered forests, a frozen river, and sun-drenched marshlands. The tour takes place only a short walk from our hotel – there is no transfer time. We are proud to say that the dogs are very well cared for, following not only the strict animal welfare laws of Sweden.

Start time

December 15th – April 12th
Monday to Friday from 13:00 to 16:00
Saturday to Sunday from 09:00 to 12:00

At the kennel, only a short walk from the hotel, your group will be welcomed by your guide, and you’ll be provided with warm clothes, shoes, and gloves. You’ll meet the dogs and receive a detailed explanation of how to drive a dog sled. You’ll also help harness the dogs. Then, you’ll drive the dog sled in pairs – one rides, and one drives. After half the journey, we stop and start a fire, and you’ll be offered snacks. Now you’ll have the opportunity to switch places and take turns driving the dog sled.

Dress warm for your dog sled tour. Winter clothing is available to borrow, included in the price. Please note: Limited availability of children’s clothing. Contact us if you have any questions.

When it’s really cold, we apply a cold limit for children up to 12 years old at -18°C. This means we do not allow children to join the tour in such conditions.

At temperatures between -28°C and -32°C, we shorten the long tour to a 1.5-hour tour. For temperatures of -32°C or lower, all tours will be canceled.

    • To drive a dog sled, you must be over 15 years old, at least 155 cm tall, and weigh at least 50 kg.
    • Children under 5 years old are not allowed to participate in this longer sled tour for safety reasons.
    • For children aged 3-5 years, we recommend our shorter tour instead.
    • Children up to 10 years old or shorter than 120 cm can participate by sitting with an adult. Only one child under 120 cm per sled can join. If you wish to book with multiple small children, please contact us first.
    • Children aged 11-15 years can participate as passengers with an adult driving the sled.
    • The cold limit for children up to 12 years old is -18°C. Please note that our borrowed clothing is only available in adult sizes, so dress your child properly and warmly.
    • For safety reasons, we do not recommend dog sledding for those who are pregnant. We advise against dog sledding entirely from around week 20 of pregnancy.

Price: 2250 SEK per person
Children aged 6–15 years: 50% discount
The tour is not suitable for children aged 0–5 years.

We are proud to say that the animal welfare regulations in Sweden are very strict, especially when it comes to dogs. Anyone who keeps more than nine dogs must have a license from the regional authorities — in our case, Länsstyrelsen Västerbotten. This license is only granted if strict rules, laws, and regulations are followed.

For example, while many countries still allow dogs to be kept on chains, this is not allowed in Sweden. Husky owners must also provide a fenced outdoor area of 30 m² for two dogs (18 m² for one dog, with an additional 12 m² for each extra dog). The dogs must also be exercised in another area at least once a day.

Our other collaboration partners for dog sledding are certified by Nature’s Best, Sweden’s official ecotourism certification. This means they must follow even more regulations regarding training, health, and welfare. The dogs receive continual training and enrichment.

Booking Terms and Conditions

1) Terms and Conditions for Accommodation Only

General
Unless otherwise agreed, the following rules apply.

Booking and Confirmation
A booking is binding once it has been confirmed and you have received a booking number. This may occur verbally, in writing, or via our booking system. When booking, you must provide your name, address, arrival and departure time, and method of payment. Different rules apply to different price categories—see detailed price information.

To book a room at Granö Beckasin, for yourself or another person, you must be at least 18 years old. If you book a room for a minor and do not stay at the property yourself, the minor must present a signed consent form from a legal guardian upon arrival. The consent confirms that the guardian approves the minor’s stay and assumes responsibility for the minor and their actions. The person who made the booking, or alternatively the guardian who also stays at the hotel, is responsible for the minor even if staying in separate rooms.

Arrival and Departure
Your room is available from 15:00 on the day of arrival. On the day of departure, you must vacate the room no later than 11:00. The room is reserved for arrival until 18:00. If you expect to arrive later, you must notify reception. Written notice of late arrival must be confirmed in writing by the hotel to be valid.

Cancellation and No-Shows
Cancellations must be made no later than 15:00 local time on the day of arrival unless otherwise agreed at the time of booking.
If you fail to cancel or cancel after 15:00, you must pay for the first night. If the hotel has incurred specific costs due to your booking, you may be required to compensate for these.

Granö Beckasin’s Obligations and Your Requests
If Granö Beckasin cannot provide the room as agreed, the guest is entitled to receive a comparable or better room within Granö Beckasin at no additional cost. If this is not possible, a room of similar standard at another hotel will be provided (the new accommodation does not need to be of the same type, e.g., a treehouse).
Please specify your requests at the time of booking to ensure the hotel can prepare accordingly.

Smoking is strictly prohibited in all rooms. Pets are welcome in cabins and selected Bird’s Nest rooms. A surcharge of SEK 500 applies, and you must notify staff at the time of booking. Violations of the smoking ban or bringing an unregistered pet will result in a sanitation fee of SEK 3,000. Guests must report and compensate for any damage to rooms, cabins, or furnishings belonging to Granö Beckasin.

Payment
Some price categories require advance payment; otherwise, payment is made during your stay. We prefer payment by debit or credit card. We accept common card types but are not obliged to accept specific cards, checks, vouchers, or foreign currency unless previously agreed. You may also pay online by logging in at granobeckasin.com/en/my-booking/

Storage of Valuables and Luggage
The hotel can store your luggage but assumes no responsibility for it. The hotel is not obliged to store items of high value. The hotel has no strict liability for belongings kept in guest rooms. Loss of a key must be compensated by the guest. According to law, the hotel may hold luggage as security for a guest’s outstanding payments and, under certain conditions, sell it.

Your Personal Safety
Always locate emergency exits, alarms, and fire extinguishers. Review the information posted on the inside of your hotel room door.
