The secret lives of trees

Talking Trees

Talking Trees

Do trees talk to each other? Can they sleep, create memories and even have friends? Join us in the forest and learn interesting facts about the mysteries of the trees. During this inspiring walk we’ll explore the secret lives of the trees guided by a knowledgeable forest ecologist. It is a beautiful tour that suits anyone who enjoys nature.

Sweden is a land of forests – but how much do we really know about the trees themselves? Together with a passionate forest ecologist, we venture into nature to seek answers about how trees live.

We take the path that winds over the hills and experience various forest environments, from open pine heaths to dense and mixed young forests. Along the way, we stop at interesting trees.

Did you know that you can learn a lot about the life and health of trees just by observing how they’ve grown? Each tree adapts to the conditions in its environment. In this way, the tree’s shape and bark tell a unique story about its life.

Small clues may point to wood fungi and insects – there’s much to discover! However, Mother Nature doesn’t reveal all her secrets at once, and there’s still much research to be done about the forest. Perhaps you’ve heard in the media about research regarding how plants perceive and interact with their surroundings. There are stories of trees communicating and cooperating with each other. Is it true? One sometimes wonders. Together, we discuss some of these research projects and compare their findings with what is already widely known and accepted in botany.

After the tour, you will have learned how a tree grows, interacts with birds, mammals, insects, and fungi – and perhaps even if it can communicate with other trees.
